How to choose a powerful outdoor spot?

Lumens, IP, lighting angle, power supply: the 4 criteria that decide whether your spot survives in winter.

How to choose a powerful outdoor spot?

A good outdoor spot is not just an eye-catching one. Four technical criteria determine whether it will really last in time, resist the seasons and deliver the light you need.

1. Lumens, not watts

The wattage indicates the consumption, not the brightness. For the actual brightness, it is the lumen which counts:

  • 10 – 80 lumens: decorative tags, atmosphere
  • 100 – 300 lumens: terminals and aisle appliqués
  • 500 – 1,500 lumens: entrance, garage, parking
  • 2000+ lumens: projectors, large facades, safety

2. The IP index, the only guarantee of waterproofness

The IP is a two-digit code: dust, then water. For external use in France, aim at a minimum IP44. For ground lighting near a gutter or swimming pool, IP65 or more.

Lumihome publishes the exact IP on each product sheet. No marketing round.

3. Solar, 230V or 12V?

Three solutions, three cases of use. The solar is unbeatable for flexibility and zero cost but depends on the sun. The 230V guarantees constant power but requires a connection (and often an electrician). The 12V low voltage is ideal around the swimming pools and for secure self-installation.

4. Manufacturing quality

Failures do not come from LEDs — they come from joints, motion sensor (UV ageing), battery (12 to 24 months on cheap models) and foot (rust). stainless steel or heat-lapped aluminium, with replaceable lithium battery.

In summary

For an outdoor spot that lasts: lumens adapted to your use, IP44 minimum (65 if direct exposure), consistent power supply with your project, and quality materials. Lumihome masteres the 4 criteria on the entire range.

The 2025 trends of outdoor chubs: design and technology

The 2025 trends of outdoor chubs: design and technology

In 2025, the outside chub It is not just a light: it structures, values and integrates harmoniously with landscape developments. Sharp design, responsible materials, solar performance... the exterior luminaire becomes a part of your living spaces. Here are the great trends to follow closely, and which Lumihome has already integrated into its new collections.

Minimalist design and durable materials

Lines become purer and purer, with sober, cylindrical or rectangular shapes, which melt in the decor without dizzying. On the material side, brushed l-inox and thermolagged aluminum remain the reference, but 2025 marks a real turning point: Lumihome launches first outdoor light terminal designed in recycled materials, with a post-industrial aluminum body and a diffuser made from recycled plastic. A concrete step that combines durability, aesthetics and environmental commitment.

"We didn't just want to follow an ecological trend, but we wanted to show that we could do the beauty, the robust and the responsible."
— Christophe Coelho, founder of Lumihome

Autonomous lighting and high solar performance

The Solar chubs With new high-efficiency photovoltaic panels and more efficient lithium-ion batteries, the 2025 models have up to 3 nights of complete autonomy after a single day of sunshine. No more symbolic lighting: the solar poles offer real light comfort, with twilight sensors, smart modes and integrated motion detection.

At Lumihome, the 2025 solar models combine elegance and technology: detection up to 10 meters, interchangeable batteries, luminous flux up to 1000 lumens... all without any cable.

Simplified and adaptable attachment

Another strong trend is ease of installation. More and more models adopt modular design, with removable pole or quick-fixing plate, allowing a installation without specific tools. Ideal for both private and professional installers.

This flexibility also seduces those who want to change their exterior layout over the seasons. Move a pot, reorganize an alley or add a light point becomes a child's play.

"Our goal is to make the installation as simple as it is used. Even a beginner must be able to put his outdoor light fixture in a few minutes."

Style, yes, but useful first.

In 2025, the outdoor pottery became a full-fledged actor in everyday comfort. No more need to sacrifice aesthetics to performance, nor durability to simplicity. Lumihome accompanies this evolution by designing products that combine elegance, technicality and responsibility.

And the good news? These trends are not reserved for architects or landscapers, and are already accessible to all those who are passionate about well thought out light.
